Brun-Hagen Hennerkes

Brun-Hagen Hennerkes (born October 4, 1939 ) is a German legal scholar , lawyer and was Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Family Businesses Foundation until the end of 2019 .

Life

Hennerkes graduated from high school in Marianum (Warburg) and studied from 1960 to 1964 first ancient languages ​​and then law at the universities of Saarbrücken , Freiburg im Breisgau and Hamburg . In 1966 he did his doctorate with Konrad Hesse in Freiburg im Breisgau with a subject under constitutional law (the basic rights of prisoners on remand) . In 1987 he was appointed honorary professor at the University of Stuttgart for the areas of business and corporate tax law. He began his professional activity in 1968 with a manager training course at the steel trade association in Düsseldorf, after which he was appointed the youngest member of the management department of Mannesmann AG , where he acted as assistant to CEO Egon Overbeck . He worked here until he joined Conrad Böttcher's law firm in 1971, which was exclusively concerned with family businesses. In 1981, Hennerkes became the sole senior partner of the law firm, which was later named Hennerkes, Kirchdörfer & Lorz. He also advised family businesses in Germany, Austria and Switzerland on conceptual issues. He is exclusively active in the conceptual support of European family businesses (especially succession planning) and the legal and tax organization of significant private assets (family contracts, foundations, trusts). As the "Consigliere des Deutschen Industrieadels", he accompanied the design of supervisory boards and advisory boards and was chairman or member of numerous supervisory bodies (including Bauerfeind AG , Berentzen, Edding, Eckes, Grünenthal, Hugo Boss, Jowat, Mahle, Uzin Utz, VBH Holding, Stöhr).

In 2002 he founded the non-profit foundation family businesses , which advocates the interests of family businesses in Germany and Europe. Since then, Hennerkes has been the chairman of the Family Business Foundation.

Hennerkes is the author of scientific publications on problem areas in the family business and author of the standard work "The family and their company".
