Bruno Kropff

Bruno Kropff (born September 7, 1925 in Münster ; † October 17, 2017 in Bonn ) was a German lawyer and honorary professor at the University of Bonn .

Life

The son of a district court president passed his Abitur at the age of 17 and was then obliged to do the Reich Labor Service . During the Second World War , Kropff served in the Navy , where he achieved the rank of lieutenant in the sea . After being a prisoner of war, in 1946 he began studying law at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster , which he continued in Freiburg . In 1949, Kropff passed the first state examination in law. In 1952 he was at the University of Münster with one of Friedrich Klein supervised work "statements and enforcement of treaties by the French Constitution of 1946" to Dr. iur. PhD.

After passing the second state examination in law, Kropff initially worked in a law firm. From 1953 Kropff worked in various federal ministries. Initially he was a consultant in the Federal Ministry of Justice , later head of the division “Law of corporations , corporate and accounting law ”. Here, together with Ernst Geßler and Ernst Döllerer, he drafted the draft of the 1965 Stock Corporation Act, which is still in force today. In 1968 he moved to the Federal Ministry of Treasury and Federal Ministry of Finance, where he was responsible for federal industrial companies and their privatization.

In 1981 Kropff became a lecturer at the University of Bonn . Since 1990 he has been an honorary professor there . From 1990 to 1992 he was also a lecturer at the University of Jena . In 1997 Kropff was honored with a commemorative publication .

Together with Ernst Geßler , Wolfgang Hefermehl and Ulrich Eckardt, Kropff founded a commentary on the Stock Corporation Act from 1973 , which he continued from 2000 together with Johannes Semler in the 2nd edition as the Munich Commentary on the Stock Corporation Act . He was the author of several books and numerous articles on corporate and accounting law.
