Bruno Montelongo , full name Bruno Montelongo Gesta , (born September 12, 1987 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

society

Montelongo, multifunctional on the right wing, began his career at the Uruguayan club River Plate Montevideo , where this made his professional debut in the 2006/07 season of the Uruguayan Primera División . In addition to 61 appearances (8 goals) in the 1st division (Apertura, Clausura and Liguilla Pre-Libertadores) of Uruguay, he also played five competitive games (one goal) in the Copa Sudamericana for the Montevideans. With the club River, coached by Juan Ramón Carrasco at the time , he was able to win the runner-up championship in Torneo Clausura in 2008. In the summer of 2010, River Plate Montevideo awarded him to AC Milan in Serie A. After AC Milan had signed the Uruguayan defender, he was awarded to FC Bologna as a league competitor . At the club from the Emilia-Romagna region , the 182 cm tall Montelongo met his compatriots Miguel Britos and Henry Giménez and received jersey number 87. However, he did not appear at any of his Italian employers.
In August 2011, his return to Uruguay was announced, where he joined Peñarol , with whom Montelongo, who had been injured for several months at the time, trained from October of the same year. In the 2012 Clausura, however, he only made three goalless league appearances as a substitute for the Aurinegros . Since the 2012/13 season he is back in ranks of Montevideo's River Plate. In the Primera División he came to the train 27 times that season and scored four goals. In the 2013/14 season, 15 more first division appearances (one goal) and four games in the Copa Sudamericana 2013 were added. In the 2014/15 season he was used in 13 top division games (one goal). In the 2015/16 season he made 22 premier league appearances and five goals. He also played six games (one goal) in the 2016 Copa Libertadores . During the 2016 season he was used eleven times (no goal) in the league. At the end of January 2017, he moved to Extremadura UD in Spain . By the end of the season he ran there in 13 league games (one goal).

National team

In 2007 Montelongo played for the Uruguayan U-20 team on the side of, for example, Luis Suárez , Edinson Cavani and Martín Cáceres and took part in the 2007 U-20 World Cup in Canada. During the tournament he was used in the three group matches against Spain, Jordan and Zambia.
