Huntress with Dog , ca.1920

Zach moved to Vienna at a young age, where he studied sculpture under Hans Bitterlich and Josef Müllner at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna . The major part of his artistic work was created between 1918 and 1935.

Zack made sculptures out of bronze and chryselephantine , with which he occupied not only sports scenes and animal images but also provocative, sometimes erotic and sadomasochistic subjects. His enamel-painted statuettes in the Art Deco style depict tall, athletic, dominant women who are often provided with stockings, garters and high heels.

He signed his work as Bruno Zach , B. Zach or with pseudonyms such as Professor Tuch , Prof. Tuch or Tuch , K. Salat or SALAT , the latter especially for his oriental-inspired erotica .

Zachs bronzes were handcrafted by the Bergmann foundry , the Argentor works Rust & Hetzel , the Broma Companie and S. Altmann & Co.
