Buberow village church

Buberow is a district of the town of Gransee in the Oberhavel district in the north of Brandenburg .

Geographical location

The village is located south of the core town of Gransee. The B 96 (= E 251) runs to the west, the Welsengraben flows to the east.

history

Buberow was first mentioned in a document in 1325. The name is derived from the Slavic bobr for beaver and is reminiscent of the water-rich location on the edge of the Welsengraben valley. There the settlement was built as a round on a ledge on the edge of the lowland. During excavations, however, settlement in the Bronze Age has already been proven. Around 1490 Buberow belonged to the Ruppin rule of the Counts of Lindow-Ruppin, which was essentially imperial . The Buberow village church was built around 1500.

During the Thirty Years War the place was devastated in 1630 and 1638. Little by little the buildings were rebuilt; 30 farms have survived from 1687. Since the soil was comparatively poor for cattle breeding, the farmers concentrated on fish farming and the production of firewood. In addition, hops were successfully grown, so that in 1798 a pitcher opened. The existence of a flour mill has been handed down from 1860. In 1889, construction work on the Berlin Northern Railway found a pot of historical silver coins, the Buberow treasure. From 1905 to 1995 Buberow had a stop on the northern line, which runs directly on the eastern edge of the town.

After the end of the Second World War , the land was redistributed as part of the land reform. Some areas were distributed to 44 new settlers. In 1953, an LPG was founded in the village , which in 1960 split up a cooperative for animal and plant production. In 1974 Buberow was merged with the northeastern neighboring village of Kraatz , since 1993 it has belonged to the new Oberhavel district, and in 1997 it became a district of the town of Gransee. Buberow is a member of the working group “Historic Village Centers in the State of Brandenburg” .
