Location of Buch in Bavaria

Buch is a district of the Lower Franconian municipality of Theres in the Haßberge district .

Geographical location

Buch is north-northwest of Theres. The district road HAS 4 leads through the village, which leads in a north-north-westerly direction to Abersfeld (where it crosses the B 303 ) and in a north-easterly direction to Theres (where it joins the B 26 ). The Franconian Marienweg runs through Buch .

history

The first known documentary mention of Buch took place in 1366, but it could have originated earlier. The place name possibly originated from a beech wood or a single beech.

In 1466, the place belonging to Theres Monastery was sacked by soldiers of Bamberg Bishop Georg I von Schaumberg as part of the investiture dispute .

The forester's house Eichenbühl, which belongs to Buch, was built around 1800. The city forest was looked after by its own forester until 1935, then by the Sailershausen University Forestry Office. The former home of the forester, which was part of the forester's house, now serves as accommodation for animals. In 2005 the forester's house was restored by the Nature Conservation Federation.

On May 1, 1978, Buch became part of Theres as part of the municipal reform.
