The Federal Association of Glass Fiber Connection e. V. (BUGLAS) is the only professional association in Germany that exclusively represents companies that are involved in the construction, expansion or operation of high-performance fiber optic networks or that advise or supply these companies.

Origin and organization

The association originally emerged from the Federal Association of Broadband Communication . On February 7, 2009, the two members M-net and NetCologne left the Federal Association of Broadband Communication due to disagreements over central regulatory issues and founded BUGLAS to found a specialized and focused trade association for the fiber optic industry. In contrast to the BREKO, the BUGLAS has since then been emphatically positioning itself for the expansion of fiber optic networks into buildings (FTTB) or apartments (FTTH).
