geography
The municipality of Terrasse-Vaudreuil is located on the north-western tip of the Île Perrot . This island in the Hochelaga archipelago is surrounded by two estuary arms of the Ottawa . Several small islands in the Lac des Deux Montagnes also belong to the municipality . Neighboring communities on the island are L'Île-Perrot in the east and Pincourt in the south. Across the western branch of the Ottawa River is the parish of Vaudreuil-Dorion .
history
Jean Talon , the first general manager of New France , transferred the island as seigneurie to the officer François-Marie Perrot , then governor of Montreal . In 1855 the parish of Sainte-Jeanne-Chantal-de-l'Isle-Perrot was founded, which encompassed the entire island. The north-western tip remained undeveloped for almost a century. In 1945 80 parcels were developed for the construction of houses, three years later there were already 250 parcels. In 1952 the municipality of Terrasse-Vaudreuil was founded. The name is on the one hand a reference to the terraced terrain, on the other hand to the location opposite the town of Vaudreuil-Dorion . The municipality has been a member of the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal community association since 2000 .

Two double-track railroad lines of the Canadian National Railway and the Canadian Pacific Railway run parallel to the highway, each with a separate bridge over the Ottawa River. Terrasse-Vaudreuil shares a station with Pincourt on the suburban railway line of the Agence métropolitaine de transport , which runs from the Montreal train station Lucien-L'Allier to Vaudreuil-Dorion and Hudson . Several bus routes operated by the CIT La Presqu'Île company are responsible for fine-tuning the island .
