Métropolitaine de Montréal
The Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal (CMM) is a regional special-purpose association in the Canadian province of Québec , consisting of municipalities in the metropolitan area of the city of Montreal . It was created in June 2000 by a law passed by the National Assembly of Québec . The CMM comprises 82 communities with a total of 3.7 million inhabitants on an area of 4258.97 km².

The CMM has planning, coordination and financing skills in the following areas:
- Spatial planning
- economic development
- Art and culture funding
- local public transport and main road network
- Social housing
- Infrastructure and services of regional importance
- Waste disposal
- Wastewater treatment
- natural reserve
- Air quality
- Geomatics
Composition of the Council
The CMM Council consists of 28 members:
- the Mayor of Montreal
- thirteen members of the Council of the Montreal Agglomeration
- the Mayor of Laval and two other members of the City Council
- the Mayor of Longueuil and two other members of the Longueuil Agglomeration Council
- four mayors of municipalities in the Rive-Nord region (north bank)
- four mayors of municipalities in the Rive-Sud region (south bank)
