The groyne is 169.7  m above sea level. NHN the highest point in the Vlotho district of Uffeln and the highest mountain in the Herford district east of the Weser . Until the end of 1972 he belonged to the Minden district . At its highest point in the "Neuer Hau" forest there is a water tank house and a cell phone mast .

The groyne makes up a large part of the area of ​​the Uffeln district. It drops steeply on its southeastern side. The Löhne-Elze railway line runs below this steep slope . The name Buhn is synonymous with raised area (cf. the word stage ). At the same time, it protrudes like a groyne into the Weser, which circles it in a large arch.

About the Buhn a 220 runs kV - high-voltage line that the substation at the former Gemeinschaftskraftwerk Veltheim with the substation Bielefeld combines -East. On top of it there is a barrow that was examined by Friedrich Langewiesche in 1933 .

Location

Buhn also describes a location in the Uffeln district. The “Buhn” / “ Möllberger Straße” industrial estate is also located there . Much of the area of ​​the groyne is used for agriculture and is a landscape protection area ; a small part is forest and residential development as well as designated as a water protection area. Until the opening of the new Uffeln elementary school , there was a separate elementary school on the Buhn, which was then used as refugee accommodation.

Landscape protection areas on the Buhn are the "Hangwald Buhn", the "Schmiedebusch valley area", the "Höferbrink hillside / valley area", the " Siek Kriegerweg", "Rührups Mühle", "Westenholz", "Twielenborn" and "Buhnsiek". The wooded streams are protected biotopes .
