Möllbergen is a district of the town of Porta Westfalica in the Minden-Lübbecke district in East Westphalia .
geography
Möllbergen is located south of the Weser Mountains and north of the Weser . In the east Möllbergen borders on the district of Veltheim , in the north and west on Holzhausen , in the south on the Weser and the district Erder of the municipality of Kalletal in the district of Lippe , as well as the district of Uffeln of the city of Vlotho in the district of Herford .
The settlement area of Möllbergen can be roughly divided into four areas: The main part of the village is located at the intersection of Möllbergerstrasse / Möllberger Heide. There are also three other settlements: one in the Windbrink to Schierholz area, one in the Lehmstich area and one in the Bornholz area.
Close to the geographic center is a larger biotope area called Rahlbruch , in which attempts have been made for some time to permanently resettle storks. To the north-east of the town and south of the A 2 motorway is the approximately 50 hectare nature reserve Auf dem Sprengel .

Möllbergen was first mentioned in a document in 1176 as Melbergen.
Until the municipal reorganization on January 1, 1973, Möllbergen was an independent municipality with a total area of around 7.65 km² and 1652 inhabitants. She belonged to the office of Hausberge in the Minden district . On December 31, 2005 Möllbergen had 1,687 inhabitants, on December 31, 2017 it had 1,627 inhabitants.

The evangelical residents of Möllbergen belong to the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Holzhausen an der Porta; The Möllberg Church with the structurally connected parish hall serves as the center for the parish of Möllbergen . The Jehovah's Witnesses operate a congress hall in Möllbergen, in which national meetings of the religious community take place regularly.

The Weserradweg cycle path leads through the district. The federal highway 2 is 5 km away.
Landmark
A village bell that was cast in 1400 has served as the town's landmark since it was rebuilt in 2001. It is located in a twill-shaped oak trunk with a roof on a hill in the middle of the village and is only rung on New Year's Day at 11:00 a.m.
Sports
- Möllbergen has not had a primary school since 2012. The area of the school with attached gym and large field turf sports field, shooting range and sports home was converted into a club center with a large sports hall by the local clubs Tus 09 Möllbergen , the village club, the shooting club, Kyffhäuser Kameradschaft and the "Löwenzahn" kindergarten. There is space for around 400 spectators for handball games in the so-called "Sparkasse Arena". The new club center also has a gym, a physical practice and a state-of-the-art air gun shooting range.
