Kleinenbremen is a district of the city of Porta Westfalica in North Rhine-Westphalia , district of Minden-Lübbecke .

geography

Kleinenbremen is located north of the Weser Mountains . In the east, Kleinenbremen borders the town of Rinteln in the district of Schaumburg ( Lower Saxony ), in the north on the town of Bückeburg , also in the district of Schaumburg, in the west on Wülpke and in the south on icebergs .

In addition to Kleinenbremen itself, Kleinenbremen includes the districts of Selliendorf and Barksen.

history

Kleinenbremen was first mentioned by name in a document in 1181 as "pettisse bremen".

Until the municipal reorganization on January 1, 1973, Kleinenbremen was an independent municipality with a total area of ​​around 6.64 km² and 2898 inhabitants. She belonged to the office of Hausberge in the Minden district . On December 31, 2017, Kleinenbremen had 2,444 inhabitants.

Attractions

A special feature is the clockwork of the Protestant church , which is identical to the Westminster chime of Big Ben . Part of the Hohenzollern treasure was walled up in the church from 1944 to 1946 so as not to reveal it to the Allies in Berlin .

There are still two watermills in Kleinenbremen. The Hartingsche Watermill is part of the Westphalian Mill Road .

The Minden museum railway ends in Kleinenbremen from Hille via Minden .

The Kleinenbremen visitor mine is a mine that opened in May 1988. It is set up in part of the disused iron ore mine Wohlverwahrt in the Weser Mountains.
