By 2000 to 2007 Federal Ministry for Social Security and Generations , shortly BMSG , from 2003 Federal Ministry for Social Security, Generations and Consumer Protection , shortly BMSK or social ministry called Austrian manager of the Federation was mainly responsible for social policy, social security, family, youth , Senior, men's and consumer policy.
Federal Minister
The Ministry with the catchphrase "Social Security" was created by the ÖVP / FPÖ Federal Government Schüssel I on October 24, 2000, and replaced the previous Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the socialist governments Vranitzky and Klima since 1987 - when the Schüssel took over Government In February 2000 Elisabeth Sickl ( FPÖ ) was still Federal Minister for Labor, Health and Social Affairs (so since 1997). Herbert Haupt (FPÖ, then BZÖ ) followed in October as Federal Minister for Social Security and Generations .
With the formal change of government, Kabinett Schüssel II, in 2003, the Ministry received the consumer protection agendas from the Federal Ministry of Justice ; the health and women's agendas, on the other hand, were outsourced to the Federal Ministry for Health and Women , and from then on it was called the Federal Ministry for Social Security, Generations and Consumer Protection.
On January 24, 2005, Ursula Haubner (FPÖ, since May 4, 2005 BZÖ) followed as Federal Minister.
After the Gusenbauer government (SPÖ) took office on January 11, 2007, Erwin Buchinger became Minister of Social Affairs, and on March 1, 2007 the responsibilities of this ministry were divided between the Federal Ministry for Social Affairs and Consumer Protection (Social Ministry) and the Federal Ministry for Health, Family and Youth (Health Ministry) .
