The Federal Ministry for Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection ( BMSGPK or Ministry of Social Affairs for short ) is the Federal Ministry of the Republic of Austria responsible for social policy, social insurance, care, senior citizens policy, health and consumer policy and has been using this name since January 29, 2020.
history
The department called work , i.e. the interests of the workforce , was created as such in 1987 in the Federal Government of Vranitzky II . In 2000, when Schüssel took office , they were merged with the Ministry of Economic Affairs. The Federal Government Faymann I then took the work agendas out of the economic department (as requested by the FCG in 2006 ) and merged them with the Ministry of Social Affairs - given priority in view of the economic crisis . The consumer protection agendas were awarded in 1983 during Sinowatz's term of office and were funded by the Ministry of Family (initially Federal Ministry for Family, Youth and Consumer Protection, from 1987 for Environment, Youth and Family) through the Ministry of Health (1991 Cabinet Vranitzky III Federal Ministry for Health, Sport and Consumer Protection, from 1996 without sport), Federal Chancellery (from 1997, own Federal Minister in the Chancellery for Women and Consumer Protection) and the Ministry of Justice (2000) joined the general social security pool in 2003 and joined the new Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs in 2009.
