Dachswangen Castle (Baden-Württemberg)
Dachswangen Castle

The castle roof cheeks is the remnant of a lowland castle in the town of Umkirch in Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald in Baden-Württemberg .

The castle, which was probably built by the Lords of Dachswangen, was first mentioned in 1122 in the Rotulus Sanpetrinus . With the death of Junker Gaudenz von Blumegg zu Dachswangen in 1577, from which a fiefdom for over 300 lake trout in Schluchsee fell back to the St. Blasien monastery , the male line of the Lords of Blumegg also died out.

After 1765 the property was converted into a mill, but later fell into disrepair. During renovations in 1977, remnants of the original castle complex were identified in the old building.
