The Großbüllesheim Castle is the remains of a former water castle between the Erft Mühlebach and the waters "Lower Ahr" in Euskirchen district Großbüllesheim (At the Burgmühle / Kompstrasse) in the district of Euskirchen in North Rhine-Westphalia .

history

The moated castle was first mentioned in 1402 as a fiefdom of the Duke of Jülich to Reymer Spies von Büllesheim and remained a Jülich fief until 1802, the year Ludwig von Brempt, the last Duke of Jülich, died. After that the castle was no longer a noble residence and fell into disrepair.

In 1867, the property came to the Half Family Nettekoven that in 1886 built a new house, land and courtyard shared and then on two independent farms led, now have two owners.

Of the former castle complex , a two-part pond , which represented a knight 's seat suitable for the state assembly , only the residential building in the outer bailey , which is leaned against the gate tower , remains today .
