The Great Castle in Kleinbüllesheim , a district of Euskirchen in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Euskirchen , is a moated castle that was built in the 18th century. The listed castle is located on Luxemburger Straße.

history

The rule of Kleinbüllesheim initially belonged to the Tomburg rule and later came to the Cologne cathedral chapter . In the 14th century Daniel von Irnich was enfeoffed with the property, in the 15th century the lords of Kleinbüllesheim are mentioned. The Great Castle came to the family of Count Wolff-Metternich zu Liblar through marriage in the 19th century , who still own it.

In 1728 the medieval castle was demolished and a mansion was built according to plans by the master builder Johann Conrad Schlaun . Lothar Friedrich Adam Freiherr von Bourscheidt , Chamberlain from the Electorate of Cologne, was the client.

architecture

The complex with a water fence consists of the late Gothic gate building , the farm buildings and the manor house. The built of field fire brick outer bailey was rebuilt after a fire in 1756 partially.

The mansion, a plastered brick building , occupies the northeast corner of the complex. The three- axis middle section connects the side sections protruding forwards and backwards. The two-storey building is covered with mansard slate roofs. The corners of the building are rounded, windows and doors are closed in the segment arch .
