In 1630, during the invasion of Louis XIII. Destroyed in Savoy by order of Cardinal Richelieu after the Count Louis de Sales, the younger brother of Francis de Sales, the royal troops under the command of Gaspard III. de Coligny , Marshal of France , had resisted the handover of Annecy Castle .

In 1672, a chapel in honor of their uncle, who was canonized in 1665, was built on the site of the former castle by three of the saint's nephews , in the place of his birth room. In 1677 it received a baroque altar, which is still preserved today. After the chapel was restored by Count François de Roussy de Sales (1860–1943) , he had an annex added to the chapel, which has since served as the burial place of the de Roussy de Sales family. Its members had previously always been buried in the Sebastian Chapel in Thorens-Glières. The count had their bones transferred from there to the new tomb.
