Burgau Forest

The Burgauer Wald is an urban forest in the city of Düren in North Rhine-Westphalia . It is a mixed forest .

The forest area extends from the southern development of Düren to the adjoining Drover Heide . It is located on a slope of the former bank of the Rur . The Burgau Forest is cut through from east to west by Landesstraße 327 . On the eastern edge, Panzerstraße leads from the former Belgian barracks in Düren to the former military training area on Drover Heide. Most of the Burgau Forest is designated as a nature reserve.

In the forest there is a fitness trail , an educational forest trail and, unique in Germany, a forest trail for the blind.

There is also a tower hill (Motte). The sign on the west side provides information about the origin of the tower hill. On the east side is a canyon that is regularly used by mountain bikers.

The Burgau Forest offers a local recreation area for the city of Düren, which is also ideal for hiking, Nordic walking , mountain biking and jogging, or simply to relax.
