Burghard Kreft

Burghard Kreft (born September 13, 1950 in Gütersloh ) is a German lawyer and former presiding judge at the Federal Labor Court .

Life

Burghard Kreft completed his legal training in 1978 with the second state examination . He then worked as a research assistant at the Free University of Berlin and at the Technical University of Berlin . In 1983 he began his career as a judge at the Berlin Regional Court. In 1985 he became a judge at the labor court in Berlin . In November 1986, he joined the judicial service of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and subsequently worked there at various labor courts. Kreft was appointed presiding judge at the Hamm Regional Labor Court in September 1994 and a judge at the Federal Labor Court in February 1998. There he was initially a member of the 5th Senate, but moved to the 1st Senate of the court in November 2001. He eventually became deputy chairman of the 1st Senate and at the same time press spokesman for the Federal Labor Court. In July 2009 he was appointed chairman of the 2nd Senate. This Senate deals primarily with the right of termination .

Kreft was also a lecturer in labor law at the Political Science Faculty of the University of Erfurt .

He retired on January 31, 2016.
