The Burhabalanga (or Budhabalanga ) is a river in the Indian state of Odisha .

The Burhabalanga rises in the Similipal Mountains , a forested ridge of the Eastern Ghats , at about 1000  m altitude in the Mayurbhanj district . It initially flows north. In the Barehipani waterfall , the river falls 399 m deep. Later the river turns east. After the confluence of the Katra , the Burhabalanga turns towards the south-southeast. It flows around the Similipal Mountains. It flows through the city of Baripada and meanders through the coastal plain. Its lower reaches are in the Baleswar district . The Sono flows into the river on the right. The Burhabalanga then passes the district capital Baleswar and reaches the Bay of Bengal north of the village of Chandipur . The Burhabalanga is 198 km long. Its catchment area covers 4840 km².
