Burkhard Garweg
Burkhard Garweg (born September 1, 1968 in Bonn ) is a former member of the left-wing extremist terrorist organization Red Army Fraction (RAF). He is being searched for across Europe.
Life
When he was six years old, Garweg moved with his parents from Bonn to Hamburg , where he spent his youth. In 1987 he dropped out of school and began to move in the left-wing scene on Hafenstrasse , where, according to Michael Sontheimer, he radicalized himself . At the turn of 1989/90 he went underground and probably joined the third generation of the RAF. He is from the Federal Prosecutor's Office , the membership of a terrorist organization accused.
Together with Daniela Klette , Ernst-Volker Staub and others, he is said to have been involved in the 1993 bomb attack against the Weiterstadt prison . This was announced by the Federal Prosecutor's Office in October 2007. The three suspects were identified using traces of DNA left behind .
In a failed attack on a money transport in June 2015 in Groß Mackenstedt near Bremen, traces of Garweg's DNA were found as well as traces of dust and burdock. The Verden (Aller) district court has therefore issued an arrest warrant against the three people on suspicion of attempted murder and attempted robbery. DNA of the three named was also found in another failed attack on a money transport in Wolfsburg in December 2015. According to the public prosecutor's office in Verden and von Butz Peters , the acts did not have a terrorist background, but were intended to finance life underground.
Garweg belongs to the third generation of the RAF and, along with Klette and Staub, is one of the three people who are wanted in connection with the RAF to this day. Since 2015, the public search for them has been significantly intensified, from 2020 EU-wide using eumostwanted.eu . A reward of up to € 80,000 is offered for decisive information that leads to a final conviction of Garweg.
