Ernst-Volker Staub

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ernst-Volker Wilhelm Staub (born October 30, 1954 in Hamburg ; aliases : Robert Hagen , Rolf Krause , Ulrich Schulte and others) is a terrorist of the Red Army Faction (RAF). In 1986 he was sentenced to four years' imprisonment. After dust is due to involvement in the bomb attack against the JVA Weiterstadt , membership in a terrorist organization and several robberies after dissolution of the RAF gefahndet .

Life

Staub passed his Abitur at the Gymsen High School and studied linguistics , phonetics from 1975 and law at the University of Hamburg from the summer of 1976 . With his de-registration in 1982 his trace was lost; According to Butz Peters, it went underground in June 1983 at the latest. In July 1984 he was arrested together with Helmut Pohl from the command level of the RAF and other members of the "level of the militants" in a conspiratorial apartment in Frankfurt am Main and on February 5, 1986 by the Bavarian Supreme Court because of membership in a terrorist organization , unauthorized Possession of weapons and forgery of documents (of a passport) sentenced to four years imprisonment. While he was in custody, Staub took part in the 1984/85 hunger strike. After the end of his prison sentence, he moved to Hamburg in July 1988 and was in contact with Hamburg and Wiesbaden supporters of the RAF. He went into hiding in the spring of 1990 and apparently rejoined the RAF. Since 1991 there has been a search for him again. At that time, according to the Federal Criminal Police Office, remnants of his hair were found on a motorcycle helmet.

The investigative authorities are inadequate about the presumed belonging to the command level of the third RAF generation . Dust's fingerprints were found on a letter from the then RAF leader Birgit Hogefeld , who was seized from her after the GSG-9 deployment in Bad Kleinen . Daniela Klette , who is also a suspected RAF member , is referred to as a “companion” or “friend” of Staub; In the case of a suspicious-looking, unverified couple who were present at the station forecourt when Bad Kleinen was deployed, the investigative authorities suspect that it could have been burdock and dust (see GSG-9 deployment in Bad Kleinen # Effects on the RAF ) . According to a style analysis of the RAF's declaration of dissolution published in April 1998, several formulations of the letter can be assigned to Staub as the author. In October 2007, the Federal Prosecutor's Office confirmed that they thought Staub, Klette and Burkhard Garweg were three of the five perpetrators in the bomb attack against the Weiterstadt JVA in 1993. They had been identified by DNA traces from the crime scene.

Even after the dissolution of the RAF, Staub, Klette and Garweg are wanted by the Federal Criminal Police Office for membership in a terrorist organization . In November 2000, the Federal Court of Justice expanded the arrest warrant for dust and burdock to include the formation of a new terrorist organization and serious robbery , after the two of them attacked a money transport in Duisburg with a bazooka and a rapid-fire rifle on July 20, 1999, costing at least one million German marks had captured. The two perpetrators were identified by the remains of saliva on masks they had left behind and in the getaway car. Like the report for the protection of the constitution from North Rhine-Westphalia in 2000, press reports consider it possible that the attack on the money transport served to raise money for life underground. On February 6, 2001, the Federal Prosecutor's Office initiated an investigation into the re-establishment of a terrorist organization against dust and burdock. There are indications for the establishment of this group in 1999. This group could still fall back on the infrastructure of the old RAF, in particular weapon hiding places and conspiratorial apartments. In June 2016 they used a Kalashnikov and a bazooka to attack a money transporter and a shop in Cremlingen .

In a failed attack on a money transport in June 2015 in Groß Mackenstedt near Bremen, DNA traces of dust, Velcro and baked goods were found in the vehicles. The Verden (Aller) district court therefore issued an arrest warrant for the three people on suspicion of attempted murder and attempted robbery in January 2016. DNA of the three named was also found in another failed attack on a money transport in Wolfsburg in December 2015. According to the Verden public prosecutor's office and von Butz Peters, the acts have no terrorist background, but should serve to finance life in the underground.

Photos from the 1980s were originally used for the manhunt. In 2003, the Federal Criminal Police Office created mug shots from them , on which it artificially aged those wanted on the computer. Dust is on the wanted list of known persons of the BKA . The LKA Lower Saxony published new photos for the search in 2016. The escape vehicles used in nine robberies from 2013 to 2016 were bought by those wanted from used car dealers, four of them in the Bielefeld area. When evaluating video material, a good, up-to-date mug shot of Staub could be obtained, the recording of Garweg was less clear. On one video they can be seen in a bus in Osnabrück in the run-up to a used car purchase, on the other on a video during their raid on a Rewe store in Hildesheim in May 2016. A connection to the Netherlands could also be established via a mobile phone , which was turned off after crossing the border into the Netherlands, and scraps of a Dutch magazine in one of the burned-out getaway cars. As a result, an extensive search for the group of perpetrators was carried out in the Netherlands. A witness said he had seen dust on a large campsite near Venice, which was popular with German tourists, but could not clearly identify him. As a result, the search was extended to the Mediterranean region in 2017.

In 2018 it was announced that the trio would be charged with further attacks based on DNA traces: Supermarket attacks in Bochum - Wattenscheid in 2006 and in Löhne in 2009. A reward of up to 80,000 is available for decisive clues that lead to a final conviction of Dust € exposed.
