Burkhard von Gemmingen

Burkhard von Gemmingen (born May 14, 1932 in Neckarzimmern ; † 2006 ) was a German business economist .

He was the owner of the castle hotel at Hornberg Castle , president of the Association Guest in the Castle , legal knight of the Order of St. John and family councilor of the Kraichgau aristocratic women's monastery . He was a member of the administrative board of the Johannes Anstalten in Mosbach , was an honorary judge at the administrative court in Karlsruhe and commercial judge at the regional court in Mosbach . In addition, he was politically active at local and district level and was chairman of the local association and member of the district committee of the CDU in the Neckar-Odenwald district .

Life

He was the second son of Reinhard von Gemmingen (1901–1981) and Hertha von Gemmingen-Steinegg (1906–1988). As a result of the global economic crisis, the father sold Neckarzimmern Castle and the family first moved to the neighboring rent office and then to the shell building at Hornberg Castle. In 1953, the parents finally opened the castle restaurant at Hornberg Castle. Burkhard studied business administration in Mannheim and received his doctorate. rer. pole. He then worked for an auditing company and then became a self-employed auditor.

Hornberg Castle on the Neckar

When his father took care of his inheritance in 1963, the property traditionally passed to the eldest son Hans-Wolf (* 1930). The catering business, however, came to Burkhard, who built two restaurants and a hotel at Hornberg Castle. The companies were valued above all by industrial conferences and international tourism, and they developed extremely well. When it came to marketing , they relied in particular on the prominent previous owner of the castle, the knight Götz von Berlichingen with the iron hand, who was world-famous through Goethe and who was also credited with inventing the Swabian greeting . In 1980, Zeit ruled that Hornberg Castle and Guttenberg Castle on the opposite bank of the Neckar, also owned by Gemmingen, were the best marketed castles on Burgenstrasse . In 1970 Burkhard von Gemmingen became president of the Gast im Schloß association , which brings together numerous restaurants and restaurants in castles and palaces. He held this office until 1989.

After the Beihinger family branch of the Barons von Gemmingen with Max von Gemmingen (1901–1962) died out, Burkhard von Gemmingen also inherited half of the 80 hectare family property in Michelfeld. He had vineyards planted on 6.5 hectares of which he leased the rest to Südzucker AG.

He married Yvonne von Zobeltitz (* 1946), a daughter of the writer Leonie Ossowski (actually Jolanthe von Zobeltitz, née von Brandenstein) on September 10, 1967 in Königstein im Taunus . The couple lived in a country house built in 1966 outside Hornberg Castle.
