Burmannia cryptopetala is a non-leafy plant species fromthe Burmanniaceae family . It is native to China and parts of Japan.

description

Burmannia cryptopetala is a persistent, leaf-green, continuously whitish, unbranched to rarely branched herbaceous plant that reaches a height of 5 to 9 centimeters. It is mycotrophic . The stem is thickened, thread-like and succulent, the creeping rhizome is cylindrical or absent, the few roots are thickened and short. The leaves are 3.0 to 3.5 millimeters long. They are missing at the base, are close in the lower part and become less and less towards the top, they are ovate-lanceolate, tapering to a point, close-fitting and keeled. The bracts are ovate-lanceolate, tapering to a point and around 3 millimeters long.

The terminal inflorescence usually consists of one to three flowers . The short-stalked flowers are 10.0 to 11.5 millimeters long and cleistogamous . The flower tube is cylindrical three-angled and 3 to 4 millimeters long and 2 millimeters wide, the 0.5 to 2.3 millimeter wide wings are halved wedge-shaped and run from the lower approach of the outer flower lobes to the middle of the ovary . The outer lobes are triangular, with a pointed outer end, fleshy and thickened at the edge and 1.6 to 2.0 millimeters long, the inner lobes are missing. The stamens are sessile and start in the pharynx. The connective is "T" -shaped and has two short, lateral arms that carry the thecae and a short, bluntly tapering, downward-pointing spur at the base. The stylus is as long as the flower tube and thickened thread-like, at its end are the three almost sessile stigmas .

The ovaries are approximately spherical and 3.6 to 5.0 millimeters long. The approximately spherical, 4.0 to 5.5 millimeter long capsule opens along transverse slits. The seeds are numerous, yellow and elliptical.

distribution
