Burning Rain is an American hard rock band that was formed in 1998 in Los Angeles by guitarist Doug Aldrich and singer Keith St. John .

Band history

Burning Rain was founded in Los Angeles in 1998. Doug Aldrich (guitar, Bad Moon Rising ) and Keith St. John ( Montrose ) formed the band together with Alex Makravovich (drums, ex- Steelheart ) and Ian Mayo (bass, ex- Hericane Alice ). In 1999 the self-titled debut album was released on the Japanese label Pony Canyon. Only a year later the European pressing took place via Z Records.

The second album Pleasure to Burn followed in 2000 via Canyon International in Japan and again via Z Records in Europe.

Then the band took a long break, as Doug Aldrich was active with Whitesnake and Dio , while Keith St. John played many live performances with Montrose. After the suicide of Ronnie Montrose , the band was reactivated in 2013. However, bassist Sean McNabb (ex- Dokken , Lynch Mob ) and drummer Matt Starr ( Mr. Big ) joined the band. In 2013 the album Epic Obsessions was released on Frontiers Records . In addition, the band released the Kiss - cover song Calling Dr. Love on iTunes - tribute album A World With Heroes: A Kiss Tribute for Cancer Care .

Aldrich founded the supergroup Revolution Saints in 2014 with Jack Blades and Deen Castronovo , and he also took care of his private life more, so that Burning Rain paused again.

In 2018, Aldrich and Keith St. John returned, this time with Blas Elias ( Slaughter ) and Brad Lang ( Y&T ). In 2019, the fourth album Face the Music was released, again via Frontiers Records.
