Burton Gilliam (born August 9, 1938 in Dallas , Texas ) is an American actor .

life and career

Burton Gilliam initially worked as a firefighter for 14 years. He made his film debut in 1973 as the sleazy hotel receptionist in Peter Bogdanovich's comedy Paper Moon . He had answered a newspaper ad looking for small actors for Paper Moon in order to make some money and possibly meet stars. A career developed from this role: since then he has appeared in over 90 film and television productions, including well-known films such as The Wild West and Back to the Future III . He played the role of Virgil in the US sitcom Daddy creates us all between 1990 and 1994 .

Gilliam lives with his wife Susan near his hometown Dallas, the couple have two children.
