Byron Terrance Kelleher (born December 3, 1976 in Dunedin , New Zealand ) is a New Zealand rugby union player on the position of the scrum half . For the New Zealand national rugby union team All Blacks , he played a total of 57 international matches. He is 1.75 m tall and weighs 95 kg.
Career
His first season as a professional rugby union player played Kelleher from 1997 on the New Zealand South Island for the provincial association of Otago within the National Provincial Championship and for the selection team of the Highlanders as part of the super rugby tournament . For the latter, he was named New Zealand's "Player of the Year" in the 1999 season. In 2004 he moved to the North Island of New Zealand to play for the Waikato Provincial Association and the Chiefs ' national team.
To play after the Rugby Union World Cup in 2007 in the French professional league Top 14 , Kelleher had signed a contract with the SU Agen club . This was set up in a night-and-fog action while the All Blacks stayed in France for a few games. However, SU Agen rose in the current season in the second-rate professional league Pro D2 . Kelleher then made use of the agreed right of termination. On June 10 of the same year he finally signed a contract with the club Stade Toulousain .
In his first season in France, he won the championship title with Stade Toulousain and was voted Player of the Season. After winning the second championship title in 2011, he moved to the Paris club Stade Français .
He is known as an unorthodox half-player, given his speed and strength, he prefers to run with the ball to break the opponent's lines than to pass or kick the ball after a push and an open scrum .
useful information
Kelleher gained notoriety outside of the sports scene, above all as a partner of the American porn actress Kaylani Lei . The relationship ended in June 2006.
In May 2013, a possible relationship between Kelleher and the Monegasque Princess Charlène was discussed in the tabloid press .
