Caesar Wilhelm Alexander Krause

Caesar Wilhelm Alexander Krause (born July 29, 1807 in Deutsch Krone , † July 12, 1862 in Bad Homburg in front of the height ) was a German Evangelical Lutheran clergyman.

Life

Caesar Wilhelm Alexander Krause was a son of the district and city judge Johann Christian Valentin Krause and his wife Johann Christiane Charlotte, nee. from Rekow. He attended high school in Salzwedel and studied Protestant theology from 1825 , first at the University of Greifswald , then from 1827 at the Friedrich Wilhelms University in Berlin . After passing the exam in the Evangelical Church of the Old Prussian Union , he became rector and afternoon preacher in Filehne ( Wieleń ). From 1832 he was pastor in Grätz ( Grodzisk Wielkopolski ). In 1840 he came to Wroclaw as archdeacon and senior at St. Bernardine (today the Museum of Architecture ) , where in 1850 he became pastor primarius and provost of the St. Bernard Hospital associated with the Holy Spirit.

On March 2, 1856 he was elected chief pastor at the main church St. Nikolai in Hamburg . During his term of office in 1863, the monumental neo-Gothic church, which was built after it was destroyed in the Hamburg fire, was consecrated. He represented a liberal theology and was a defender of the Union during his time in Prussia . In the 1840s he took part in the journalistic controversy surrounding Johann Baptist Baltzer in Breslau .

Since 1832 he was married to Auguste Christiane Louise, b. Ziedler (1811-1888). The couple's children included the doctor Rudolf Krause and the main pastor to St. Katharinen Caesar Ernst Albrecht Krause .
