CF Hansen Medal

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The CF Hansen Medal (Danish: CF Hansen medals , also called CF Hansens Opmuntringspris ) is an award from the Danish Royal Academy of Fine Arts (Det Kongelige Akademi for de Skønne Kunster, part of the Royal Danish Academy of Art ), which is given to Danish architects (in individual cases also people belonging to other professions) for extraordinary contributions to architecture. It is named after the classicist architect Christian Frederik Hansen and has been awarded to one or more recipients since 1830 - usually annually. The medal is intended as a sponsorship award (Opmuntring) or an award for previous work (or both) and is the highest honor that the Academy bestows on architects. It is therefore considered the most prestigious Danish architectural award.
