C. Henry Gordon

C. Henry Gordon (* 17th June 1883 in New York City as Henry Racke , † 3. December 1940 in Los Angeles ) was an American actor.

life and career

C. Henry Gordon grew up as the son of parents of German origin in the USA, Germany and Switzerland. At first he owned a silver mine in New Mexico , but with which he was unsuccessful, so he became an actor. Gordon worked as a stage actor on Broadway in the 1920s before making his film debut at the age of 47. Between 1930 and 1940 Gordon starred in around 80 films. He made his breakthrough as a character actor when he appeared as a police inspector in the gangster classic Scarface . In the following years he played tough authority figures or the film villain, as well as in the title role of the film The Treason of Surat Khan with Errol Flynn . Gordon, who had worked as an actor to the end, died at the age of 57 as a result of a leg amputation.
