CV Sridhar

CV Sridhar ( Chingelpet V. Sridhar ; born July 22, 1933 in Chingelpet , † October 20, 2008 in Chennai , Tamil Nadu ) was an Indian screenwriter , film director and film producer . He has worked in the Tamil , Telugu , Kannada and Hindi film industries and is known for filming emotionally charged, melodramatic triangle stories.

Life

In addition to his work in an authority in his hometown of Chingelpet , Sridhar wrote plays for the theater group TKS Brothers . His most famous play Raktha Pasam was filmed by RS Mani in 1954 . He subsequently wrote scripts, including for the films Ethirparadathu (1954) by Ch. Narayanamurthy and Amara Deepam (1956) by T. Prakash Rao .

With Kalyana Parisu he made his debut as a film director in 1959. The film starred Gemini Ganesan , A. Nageshwara Rao and B. Saroja Devi and was commercially successful. In 1961 Sridhar founded his own film company "Chithralaya Pics". Since his directorial debut, he has often worked with the cameraman and later director of the Malayalam film A. Vincent , including in the Tamil films Nenjil Ore Alayam (1962) and Kadalikka Neramillai (1964). Nenjil Ore Alayam is set in a hospital where a doctor - played by Kalyana Kumar - treats his beloved's husband, who has cancer. Sridhar directed a successful Hindi remake of this film in 1963, titled Dil Ek Mandir and starring Rajendra Kumar , Raaj Kumar and Meena Kumari . Kadalikka Neramillai is a romantic comedy whose Hindi remake Pyar Kiye Jaa (1966) became Sridhar's best-known Hindi film with comedian Mehmood CV.

Sridhar promoted many young actors and also helped Jayalalitha , who later became Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu , to her first leading role in Vennira Adai (1965).

He received a Filmfare Award for Best Story for Nazrana in 1962 and was nominated for Best Director and Best Story with Dil Ek Mandir at the 1964 Filmfare Awards .

Sridhar retired from the film business after 1991 and died of a heart attack at the age of 75.
