Semaphorin-4D (synonym CD100 ) is a surface protein from the group of Semaphorins .
properties
Semaphorin-4D is found in skeletal muscles , peripheral lymphocytes , spleen , thymus and, to a lesser extent, in the testes , brain , kidney , small intestine , prostate , heart , lungs , pancreas , but not in the rectum and expressed by the liver . It is a GTPase-activating protein and the receptor for PLXN1B , PLXNB2 and is involved in signal transduction between cells. Furthermore, an activation initiates the change in the actin - cytoskeleton and a polarization direction of the growth of axons a. Semaphorin-4D is also involved in the cell migration of granular cells of the cerebellum and of endothelial cells . Signal transduction takes place via Src , PTK2B / PYK2, phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase and via AKT1 . In the immune system , Semaphorin-4D is involved in the activation of T cells , the induction of antibodies and the formation of cell contacts . Semaphorin-4D binds to CD72 . It is a homodimer , glycosylated and phosphorylated .
