Cabo Ledo Beach

Cabo Ledo (German: Happy Cape ) is a bay and a municipality in the province of Luanda , 120 km south of Luanda on the edge of the Quiçama National Park. The beach Praia dos surfistas at the foot of the Cape is considered one of the best surf spots in Angola. Several ecotourism resorts have settled here. Cabo Ledo is accessible from the EN100 national road. The place has a small airport, a former Cuban military airfield, with a runway of 2996 m. The cargo flights for the “Noah's Ark” campaign with wild animals from Botswana and South Africa landed here in 2001–2002 for the revitalization of the national park.

Cabo Ledo Bay is also of historical importance. In 1645, the governor of Rio de Janeiro , Francisco de Soutomaior , anchored here with his fleet from Brazil to drive the Dutch out of Luanda.
