Calaigh Copland (born March 12, 1987 in Windsor , Ontario ) is a Canadian soccer player of Guyanese origin.
Life
Copland was born to a Canadian father and a mother from Guyana in Windsor, Canada in the province of Ontario and grew up in neighboring Peterborough . In Peterborough she attended the Adam Scott Collegiate and Vocational Institute for four years from 2002 to 2006, before studying at Seneca College between 2006 and 2009 . From 2009 to 2013, she studied Business Management at Ryerson University .
Football career
society
Copland started her career at Peterborough City Soccer Club. During that time, she played for the Lions, the athletic team at the Adam Scott Collegiate and Vocational Institute, in high school from 2002 to 2006 . She then played for three years for the Stings, the soccer team at Seneca College, before Copland was active for the Ryerson Rams, the team at Ryerson University, between 2009 and 2013. Since 2009 she played in the semester break for the Peterborough Women's Soccer Club in the Ontario Women's Soccer League , before she went permanent as a player at the Peterborough WSC after graduating from university in 2011. Since the winter of 2015 it is in the squad League1 Ontario -Vereines Woodbridge Strikers where she could score four goals in five games in their first season. In her second season, the 28-year-old striker scored six goals in ten games in the League1.
National team
Copeland was first called on May 30, 2009 for a training camp in the Canadian national soccer team of Carolina Morace . But after she was not deployed and was never called up again, she decided to play for Guyana in the summer of 2015 . On July 30, 2015, Copeland was appointed to the Guyanese national women's football team for the first time. In August 2015, she made her international debut against the Dominican Republic women's national soccer team in qualifying for the 2016 Summer Olympics . In Guyana, she plays with Donna Joseph , Briana De Souza , Kayla De Souza , Kathryn Eyre and Mariam El-Masri , Ashlee Savona , Olivia Gonsalves , Alison Heydorn , Kailey Leila , Justine Rodrigues , Martyne Alphonso , Chantal Lynch and grew up in Ontario Leah-Marie Ramalho .
