Calypso - is like so ... is an album by the actor Robert Mitchum from 1957. Although it sounds more like a parody for today's listeners , the album by Mitchum himself was primarily designed as a homage to Calypso .

inspiration

In 1956 and '57 Robert Mitchum held because of the shooting to play with fire and Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison in Trinidad and Tobago on. In his spare time he explored the two Caribbean islands with John Huston , the director of The Sailor and the Nun . Mitchum immersed himself in the local pub and carnival scene and discovered the calypso for himself. During this time he also had the opportunity to hear local superstars Mighty Sparrow and Lord Melody . Probably due to his profession as an actor, he was soon able to imitate the accent of the local singers very convincingly. Back in the USA, he was now a calypso fan and was confronted with a calypso boom; triggered mainly by Harry Belafonte . So Mitchum decided to record an album himself: Calypso - is like so ...
