Calystegia macrostegia is a plant type from the genus of calystegia ( Calystegia ) from the family of wind plants (Convolvulaceae). The species is common in California and Mexico .

description

Calystegia macrostegia is close to short hairy a perennial, hairless shrub or shrub of a woody Caudex forms as Überdauerungsorgan. The branches are thin, soft and climbing to woody and climbing. They reach lengths of 1 to 9 m. The leaf blades have a length of up to 13 cm and are usually broadly triangular in shape and lobed.

The inflorescences consist of one to a few flowers , the inflorescence stalks are usually longer than the accompanying leaves. The prophylls are 6 to 37 mm long, 4 to 30 mm wide, lanceolate to more or less round, with entire margins, flat to sack-like and set directly below the calyx and more or less encompassing it. The sepals are 7 to 25 mm long. The crown is colored white or fading pink and has a length of 22 to 68 mm.

distribution

The species is from the Central Coast in California until after Mexico along the Pacific endemic spread. The species occurs mostly in dry, rocky and more or less coastal areas at altitudes below 1000 m.

Systematics

There are six subspecies:

  • Calystegia macrostegia subsp. amplissima Brummitt : It occurs on islands in California.
  • Calystegia macrostegia subsp. arida (Greene) Brummitt : It occurs in central California.
  • Calystegia macrostegia subsp. cyclostegia (House) Brummitt : It occurs in west-central, southwestern California and Mexico.
  • Calystegia macrostegia subsp. intermedia (Abrams) Brummitt : It occurs in southwestern California.
  • Calystegia macrostegia subsp. macrostegia : It occurs in California and Mexico.
  • Calystegia macrostegia subsp. tenuifolia (Abrams) Brummitt : It occurs in southern California and Baja California, Mexico.
