Cameron "Cammy" Smith (born December 11, 1993 in Perth ) is a Scottish  curler . He plays in the position of lead in Glen Muirhead's team .

Career

Smith began his international career at the  Junior World Championships in 2013 , where he won the gold medal as the lead of the Scottish team around his brother Kyle . In his last participation in  2014  , he again achieved a podium place with a silver medal.

At the  2013 Winter Universiade  , he won the silver medal as the lead of the Scottish Agricultural College, Edinburgh team.

At the  European Championships 2017  in  St. Gallen  , Smith was able to  move into the final against the Swedish team of Niklas Edin after a semi-final victory against Switzerland (Skip:  Peter de Cruz )  ; the Scots lost 10: 5 there, as the Swedes managed to steal four stones in the end.

Smith and his teammates (Skip: Kyle Smith, Third:  Thomas Muirhead , Second: Kyle Waddell , Alternate:  Glen Muirhead ) represented Great Britain at the  2018 Olympic Winter Games . After five wins and four defeats in the Round Robin , his team was tied for fourth place with Switzerland and had to play a tie-breaker against Peter de Cruz's team to make it into the final round . The British lost 5: 9 to the Swiss and thus finished the Olympic tournament in fifth place.

Private life

Smith is the son of Scottish curler  David Smith , who won the gold medal at the 1991  World Cup  . His uncle Peter Smith was a member of the British curling team at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics . His brother Kyle plays with him on the same team and his sister Mili competed for Great Britain in the curling competition at the 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games .
