Camille André Sauvage ( pseudonyms : Eric Framond and Willy Lee , born April 4, 1910 in Ferrière-la-Petite , Nord-Pas-de-Calais , † October 30, 1981 in Paris ) was a French clarinetist , band leader , film composer and arranger .

Life

Sauvage's father was a railroad engineer. Camille started playing the violin at an early age and completed a classical music education at the Valenciennes Conservatory and then at the Conservatoire de Paris . In the early 1940s he began to be interested in American jazz and played as a saxophonist and clarinetist in the orchestras of Ray Ventura and Raymond Legrand (1943/44). He worked with jazz musicians such as Hubert Rostaing , Noël Chiboust , Aimé Barelli , André Paquinet , Loulou Gasté , Armand Molinetti and Michel Warlop . After the end of the war, he toured northern France and Belgium with his own band. The title Seven Come Eleven (Pacific JF 6.001) was released on the French label Pacific around 1946 , recorded by Camille Sauvage & son Orchester . On Odeon he published his cover version of the Glenn Miller hit In the Mood and the vocal number Slim Boogie (Odeon 281739) The other repertoire of his Odeon recordings consisted of cheerful numbers such as Hello, baby Mademoiselle, Fifi jaune d'oeuf or Sous le ciel bleu you Texas .
