action

After Tonino Russo, the son of honest workers, had served two years in prison for bodily harm, he was welcomed by his former motorcycle gang when he was released and challenged by his boss to a knife duel. Tonino can decide for himself and thus attracts the attention of Camorra boss Don Mario Capece, who offers him to work for his organization. The ambitious Tonino soon climbs up the hierarchy. When he already commands two casinos, he and Capeces wife forge plans to remove him. Capece gets behind the plot and kills his wife. He also tries to get rid of Tonino and eventually kidnaps his little brother. Tonino is able to track him down, but then allows himself to be arrested by the police at his father's request so as not to become a bad role model for his brother.

criticism

Despite some psychological figure drawings made from a template, the film is unreservedly effective thanks to skillful editing techniques and because it can hold the tension, according to Segnalazioni Cinematografiche . The lexicon of international films also praised: "At times, very dense gangster film with socially critical references, which includes the social misery of a big city as a breeding ground for organized crime." While Roberto Chiti emphasizes above all the merits of the director, Michael Cholewa summarizes : "It really combines all the good qualities of the Italian crime film."

Remarks

The film songs "Reginella" and "Chiove" are interpreted by Roberto Murolo .
