Campocologno ( Lombard : Cunculugn ) is a settlement in southern Poschiavo in the canton of Graubünden . Politically, the village belongs to the municipality of Brusio .

geography

Campocologno lies between Brusio and the Italian Tirano directly on the border. With a height of 553  m above sea level. M. Campocologno is the lowest place of the Poschiavo.

The village has around 100 inhabitants, a road toll , a church (built between 1910 and 1914), a power station and a train station on the Bernina line .

history

In the Middle Ages, the village was part of the municipal ban of Tirano . In 1487 this dam was heavily fortified and expanded by Ludovico il Moro after he had to cede Poschiavo to the Bündner again . When the Valtellina was conquered by the Bündner in 1512, a French occupation stayed here for the whole summer. In 1513 the fortress was razed by the Bündners and restored in 1620–1639. Between 1429 and 1521 the border between Brusio and the Valtellina (previously at the tower of Piattamala ) was moved to the south via Campocologno, making Campocologno part of Brusio. In 1526 the borders between Poschiavo and Tirano were cleared. In 1624 Graubünden and French drove out the papal occupation. In 1639 the fortress was finally razed.
