The Capanna Baita del Luca is a refuge in the hamlet of Cioascio in the municipality of Sonvico in the canton of Ticino . It stands at 1070 m above sea level. M. at the foot of the Denti della Vecchia ( 1492 m above sea level ) in the Lugano Prealps .
history
The family Luca Sganzini supported the construction in memory of the pioneer of the sport climbing , which in 1979 crashed in Morocco.
The unsupervised, locked hut is located on a wide slope below the Denti della Vecchia. It has cooking facilities with a gas stove, two bedrooms with 4 and 12 places. Outside there is a barbecue area. The lighting is operated with solar cells . Drinks are available. The key can be requested directly from the hut warden.
Hut access with walking time
- From Rosone (above Sonvico) ( 861 m above sea level ) in 30 minutes (level of difficulty T2)
- From Villa Luganese ( 600 m above sea level ) or Luss (Villa Luganese) in 60 minutes
Villa Luganese and Sonvico can be reached by public bus from Lugano.
Ascents
- Denti della Vecchia ( 1492 m above sea level ). The actual climbing peaks are only for experienced mountaineers (T5) and experienced climbers (difficulty levels 3b to 8a).
- Monte Camoghè ( 2229 m above sea level )

- Capanna San Lucio on the border in Italy ( 1540 m above sea level ) in 2 hours

The hut and the area are suitable for hikers, climbers, families, educational days and courses.
