The Capanna Leìt ( German Leithütte ) is a refuge in the upper Leventina Valley , in the area of the municipality of Prato in the canton of Ticino . It stands at an altitude of 2257 m above sea level. M. in the Lepontine Alps .
history
The former alpine hut was replaced by a new one in 1980, which was expanded in 1991. It belongs to the Mendrisio section of the Società Alpinistica Ticinese (SAT) and the umbrella organization Federazione Alpinistica Ticinese (FAT).
The two-story hut has two lounge and dining rooms with 64 seats. The kitchen is equipped with a wood and gas stove and cookware. Toilets and running water are inside the building. The heating is done with wood and the lighting with solar cells. The 64 beds are divided into six rooms. The hut is open all year round and not manned.
The hut is the stage of the third stage of the Via Alta Idra high-altitude trail , which leads in 12 stages from the source of the Ticino river to its confluence with Lake Maggiore .

- From Lake Tremorgio ( 1848 m above sea level ) in 1 ½ hours walking time (level of difficulty T2). The Tremorgiosee can be reached from Rodi-Fiesso by cable car. Rodi-Fiesso can be reached by public transport.
- From Dalpe ( 1192 m above sea level ) in 3 ½ hours (T2). Dalpe can be reached by public transport.
- From Rodi-Fiesso ( 979 m above sea level ) in 3 ½ hours (T2). Rodi-Fiesso can be reached by public transport.
- From Fusio ( 1289 m above sea level ) in 4 hours (T2).
