The Rifugio Garonzera ( German Garzonerahütte ) is a refuge in the upper Leventina Valley , in the area of the municipality of Quinto in the canton of Ticino . It stands at an altitude of 1973 m above sea level. M. in the Lepontine Alps .
history
The former alpine hut was inaugurated in 1982 and rebuilt in 1989. It belongs to the Ritom section of the Società Alpinistica Ticinese (SAT) and the umbrella organization Federazione Alpinistica Ticinese (FAT).
The two-story hut has a lounge and dining room as well as a room with 20 beds. The kitchen is equipped with a wood and gas stove and cookware. The heating is done with wood and the lighting with solar cells. The hut is open all year round and not manned.
The hut is the stage of the second stage of the Via Alta Idra high-altitude path , which leads in 12 stages from the source of the Ticino river to its mouth in Lake Maggiore .

- From Piotta ( 1006 m above sea level ) in 2 ½ hours walking time (level of difficulty T2). Piotta can be reached by public transport.
- From Giof ( 1386 m above sea level ) in 1 ½ hours (T2).
- From Nante TI ( 1423 m above sea level ) in 2 ¼ hours (T2). Nante can be reached by public transport.
- From Lake Tremorgio ( 1848 m above sea level ) in 4 hours (T2). The Tremorgiosee can be reached from Rodi-Fiesso by cable car.
