The Capanna Sovèltra ( German : Soveltrahütte) is a hut in the village of Prato-Sornico in Val di Prato, a side valley of the Lavizzara valley in the Ticino Alps . It belongs to the Società Alpinistica Valmaggese (SAV), which is part of the Ticino umbrella organization Federazione Alpinistica Ticinese (FAT).

The hut is at 1534 m above sea level. M. in a side valley of the Val Lavizzara at the foot of Pizzo Campo Tencia 3,072 m above sea level. M. . It was converted from an alpine stable built in 1927 and inaugurated in 1997.
The two-story hut has a lounge / dining room with 40 seats. The kitchen has a gas and wood stove and cookware. The 35 beds are spread over five rooms. It is heated with wood and a turbine provides the lighting. Outside there are tables and a fountain.
The hut was destroyed by fire in October 2017 and is expected to be rebuilt by 2020 .
Approach
- From Prato-Sornico ( 742 m above sea level ) the hut can be reached in 2 ½ hours of walking (level of difficulty T2). Prato-Sornico can be reached by public transport.
- From Monti di Predee ( 1001 m above sea level ) in Val Bavona in 5 hours (T2). Accessible by car.
