The Società Alpinistica Valmaggese (SAV) is a Ticino alpine association in the Valle Maggia . It is part of the Ticino umbrella organization Federazione Alpinistica Ticinese (FAT).

history

The SAV was founded in 1968. The constituent assembly already dealt with the desire to convert abandoned alpine buildings into mountain huts in order to preserve the Alps laid out by the ancestors and to stop the deforestation . In 1983 the construction of the first hut in Pian di Crest was approved, which was inaugurated in 1984.

With the conversion of the stable of Alpe Campo Tencia to Capanna Sovèltra , the SAV expanded its area of ​​activity towards Pizzo Campo Tencia . With the inauguration of the hut in 1999, the range of huts was expanded for all age groups. Summer camps with children have been held there since 2000.

In 2005, the SAV bought Alpe Fiorasca between the Lavizzara and Bavona valleys and from 2004 to 2006 expanded four Rustici , two of them into the Rifugio Fiorasca .

The Capanna Soveltra was destroyed by fire in October 2017. It is closed for an indefinite period and is being rebuilt.

Via Alta Vallemaggia 3rd stage

Via Alta della Vallemaggia

In 2009 the Via Alta Vallemaggia high trail was opened by the Via Alta Vallemaggia association . This alpine route leads high above the Ticino Alps in six daily stages from Cardada via Rifugio Nimi - Capanna Alpe Masneè - Capanna Alpe Spluga - Rifugio Tomeo - Capanna Sovèltra to the summit of Campo Tencia ( 3,071  m above sea level ) and to Fusio . This route is only for experienced and well trained mountaineers (difficulty level T3 – T4).
