Cape Jervis

Cape Jervis is a small coastal town with just under 250 inhabitants in the Australian state of South Australia . Cape Jervis is located about 110 kilometers south of Adelaide on the southwestern tip of the Fleurieu Peninsula . The place is in the administrative region (LGA) Yankalilla District Council .
Matthew Flinders named Cape Jervis in 1802 after John Jervis , an admiral in the British Navy.
Cape Jervis is particularly important as a ferry port to cross over to Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island . Cape Jervis is also the starting point of the Heysen Trail , a 1,200-kilometer hiking trail that ends in the Flinders Ranges .
There are two beaches near the town, sandy Morgan's Beach and pebble Fisheries Beach . There you can also find the remains of an old whaling station .
