Cappella Istropolitana
Cappella Istropolitana is the chamber orchestra of the Slovak capital Bratislava . The word Istropolitana is derived from Istropolis ("Donaustadt"), the Graecizing name for Bratislava or Pressburg.
history
The orchestra was founded in 1983 and made the city's official chamber orchestra in 1991. The focus of the ensemble was initially on works from the Baroque and 20th century. The expansion of the orchestra to include additional members has meanwhile made it possible for concertmaster Robert Mareček to perform almost all works of the Viennese classic . Since its inception, the Metropolitan Chapel has made guest appearances in all countries in Europe, the United States , Canada and parts of Asia, and at a variety of music festivals.
