Caprivians

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Caprivians ( English Caprivians ), rarely also Itengese , is a collective name for all ethnic groups that live in the geographical Caprivi strip in Namibia . Their habitat includes the Zambezi region (until August 2013 Caprivi ) and the extreme east of the Kavango region (since August 2013 Kavango-East ).

According to the 2011 census, up to 90,000 people are Caprivians. They do not represent a uniform ethnic group . Despite the renaming of their region as part of the 4th Demarcation Commission in August 2013, the residents stick to the designation "Caprivians" and have actively protested against the renaming.
