Kavango East is one of the 14 regions of Namibia . It emerged from the division of the Kavango region on August 9, 2013.
The region is named after the Kavango ethnic group who live here . The regional capital is Rundu , Namibia's second largest city after Windhoek .
politics
In the first regional council elections in 2015 in the region, SWAPO emerged as the clear winner. The party won all seven seats on the regional council.
